My research interests mainly include microbial comparative genomics, metagenomics, molecular evolution and other bioinformatics applications. I have involved in the comparative genomics analysis of several pathogenic bacteria. About 20 bacterial genomes have been sequenced and comparative genomic analyses have been carried out. These works have identified some linkages between genetic/sequence variations and specific phenotypes associated with the characteristic physiology, pathogenesis, immunogenicity, and adaptive evolution.

 My present research is focused on establishing metagenomic sequence analysis pipelines for interpreting soil biodiversity and activity.
