Samuel Jacquiod has a PhD from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (France) in the field of Environmental Microbial Ecology. During his thesis, he mostly focuses on soil metagenomic approaches and data mining in order to address fundamental questions and applied aspects of bacterial ecology. He worked in the frame of the Seventh framework METAEXPLORE project which aims to discover new enzymes of industrial interest from soil microbial communities through metagenomic approaches (shotgun pyrosequencing, fosmid library construction and screening, contigs assembly and annotation). He is now working in the Section of Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen as a post-doc scientist in the Trainbiodiverse European project, focusing on metagenomic data-mining in order to define molecular bio-indicators of soil quality.
